This one always breaks my heart a little each time I read it.

I simply can't understand how, if you love someone, be that as a friend/partner/lover, that you wouldn't take the time to not only contact them, but also feel the need to contact them and seek out their company - even if it is only just a quick hello.

I literally crave the presence of people who I care for, even if it's just a quick thinking of you, so I always make the effort to check in with people if I haven't heard from them.

I do wonder if sometimes people just don't realise that you might actually want to hear from them, as in, perhaps they don't realise that they're important enough to you for you to miss them so when they don't get in touch it actually hurts you significantly more than they could ever imagine.

The other side of that is, that when you don't hear from them, the message you hear is that you're not important enough to them for them to make an effort - as in, if they really cared about you then they'd want to contact you.

So how do you know?

At what point is someone's lack of contact a sign that they don't care as opposed to them simply not realising that their contact is important and meaningful to you?
